Apple Crumble

Apple crumble is a favourite winter warmer of mine. I have amended this recipe to get rid of the wheat component and lower the carbs. Simple to make with a scrummy taste, don’t tell your guests and they might not know the difference.

Equipment required

1 small oven proof dish (I used a round dish approx 15 cm in diameter)
1 peeler
1 mixing bowl

Shopping list for 4 people

3 large apples, I used golden but any will work
1 cup of oats
3 tbsp of maple syrup
1 tsp of ground cinnamon
50g of room temp butter

Creme fraiche to garnish (optional)

Method to the madness

Pre heat the oven to 180 C

Peel the apples, slice the flesh from the core, dice into pieces about 1cm

Place the apples in the baking tray

Mix the oats, cinnamon, maple syrup and butter together well using your hands or a spoon

Place the crumble over the top of the apples making sure some is packed down tight into the apple

Cook in the oven for 35 minutes

Serve with a dollop of creme fraiche. ENJOY!
