Dukan Dinner, Day 1, Beef Burgers

The diet specifies that if you are going to used minced meat it should be less than 10 percent fat so this is what I have used here. You’re also allowed to use onions freely, gherkins are allowed as long as they are a condiment, in small quantities. The dinner was quite satisfying, I would have loved a side salad as well, but overall not too bad. I finished off the meal with a 0% yoghurt.

Equipment required

1 mixing bowl
2 non stick fry pans, 1 with a lid

Shopping list for 2 people

300g of lean beef mince
1/2 ground beef stock cube
1 tsp of garlic powder
1 tsp of ground cumin
4 eggs
1 onion
2 gherkins

Method to the madness

Put the mince into the mixing bowl and break it up, sprinkle over the stock and spices and mix thoroughly

Shape the mince into 4 equal patties, and rest in the fridge for at least 1 hr

Slice the onion, turn one of the pans onto medium-high and sauté, once the onion have a bit of colour turn the pan to medium, move the onions to one side and add the beef burgers

Cook the beef burgers for about 10-15 minutes depending on how you like them cooked, making sure to turn them regularly, ensure to keep the onions moving as well so they don’t burn

Once the burgers are cooked, take the pan off the heat but leave them in the pan to rest

Heat up the other pan to high, crack in the eggs and cover with the lid to aid the cooking process

Plate up the dish with the gherkins on top of the burgers for presentation. ENJOY!
