Super Green Smoothie
I came across this while watching E! News of all things. They were promoting a nutritionist to the stars Kimberley Snyder. This is a slightly adapted version of her smoothie. I think this is a great way to start the day, it is packed full of vitamins and nutrients, low fat, non dairy and an excellent source of fibre. Read her blog to see all the benefits of drinking it. I don’t use the lemon juice because I have 1/2 a lemon squeezed into warm water first thing in the morning. Don’t be put off by the look of the smoothie, I don’t think it tastes too bad!
1 blender with a 1.5L min capacity
Shopping list for 2 serves of 2 lrg glasses
2 heads of romaine lettuce or 1 lrg lettuce
2 or 3 handfuls of baby spinach
3 stalks of celery
1 medium banana
1 apple, cored
1 pear, cored
2 cups of cold water
Method to the madness
Simply chop up all the ingredients. Add the celery and lettuce first with a little bit of water, judge the addition of water by how well the mix is blending, make sure there is enough in there to help it blend properly. You should add the water as per your own taste, if you want it thinner add more. Add the banana, the apple and pear, then the spinach. Blend the smoothie until all the parts are broken down and you have the right consistency for your palette. ENJOY!
